Welcome to the Morigaon District Sericulture Department.
Muga , Mulberry and Eri silk aren't just fabrics; they are the golden threads that weave the rich cultural and economic tapestry of Morigaon. Our department is dedicated to preserving this heritage
while simultaneously empowering our local communities. We are the driving force behind a mission to transform Morigaon into a hub of high-quality silk production, directly benefiting the lives of our farmers and artisans.

Our department acts as a strong pillar of support, guiding our sericulture community every step of the way. Our responsibilities include:
Hands-On Farmer Support: We offer comprehensive training and a wealth of technical knowledge on everything from cultivating host plants to managing silkworm health, ensuring our farmers can produce the best cocoons possible.
Bringing Schemes to You: We are the bridge between government schemes and our farmers. We actively implement programs like the APART and Silk Samagra, providing crucial financial and technical aid.
Ensuring Quality Resources: We manage our sericulture farms and grainages to supply farmers with a consistent stock of healthy, disease-free silkworm seeds (DFLs) and high-quality host plants
Connecting You to Markets: We help our farmers secure fair prices for their hard work by establishing vital connections to markets and buyers for their raw silk and cocoons.
Spreading the Word: Through workshops and awareness campaigns, we are inspiring a new generation of sericulturists and ensuring that our vibrant tradition continues to thrive.
