About
The Assam Public Works Department was established in the year 1880 under British Rule. At the beginning It had the responsibility for all public infrastructure development, construction and maintenance works. But in the year 1977 to share the increasing work load and for providing more stress on developmental works, the Assam P.W.D was divided into two wings viz Roads and Building wings. Since then both the wings are functioning with their prescribed responsibility. The P.W.D Morigaon Building Sub-Division was established in the year 1979 at Morigaon near Shankar Madhab High School in Morigaon District. In 2021 Morigaon District territorial Building Division has been created vide govt. order No. B.56/2021/191 dated 03/11/2021 . At present Morigaon District territorial Building Division has two sub divisions 1) Morigaon and Laharighat Territorial Building Sub-Division 2) Jagiroad Territorial Building Sub-Division
Functions and Objectives
The principal function of the P.W.D Morigaon District territorial Building Division is to Develop, Construct & Maintain the Infrastructure for Accommodation of all types of Govt. buildings as well as other relevant works of the Morigaon District.
The Key Objectives of P.W.D Morigaon District territorial Building Division are -
Construction: Planning and executing the construction of new government buildings. This includes a wide range of facilities such as offices, hospitals, schools, and residential quarters for government employees.
Maintenance: Ensuring the upkeep and repair of existing government buildings to maintain their structural integrity and functionality. This is a continuous process that involves both routine and major repairs.
Infrastructure Development: Undertaking relevant works within the campuses of government buildings, which can include things like boundary walls, sanitation facilities etc. .
Adherence to Standards: Following specific guidelines, such as the Assam PWD Building Schedule of Rates, to ensure that all construction and maintenance work is carried out according to prescribed standards for quality, safety, and cost.
